Kurzfassung
For several decades now, the existence of coherent structures within the turbulent boundary layer has been known. However, it is still unexplained how these structures are defined and how they interact with each other in the turbulent boundary layer [4]. Answering these fundamental questions is one of the main subjects in turbulence research due to the fact that coherent structures have a major influence on the total drag of conventional aircrafts. Only if the processes of coherent structures and their impact on the viscous drag can be explained, a targeted manipulation and control can be done in order to minimize the total drag of aircrafts, and therefore to reduce the fuel consumption.
