Abstract

We demonstrate that a joint (i.e. simultaneous) retrieval of atmospherical trace gases from limb sounding measurements can outperform a purely sequential retrieval of the same trace gases. The reason for the better performance of a joint retrieval is the avoidance of error propagations incurred during a purely sequential approach.
