Abstract

At the DLR Institute of Technical Physics, a laser-based space debris monitoring system is currently developed. The system will allow for finding non-catalogued objects by detecting solar radiation scattered off the debris. Subsequently, short laser pulses are directed onto the target object in order to measure the time of flight, i. e. the distance to the objects. Precise tracking will deliver azimuth and altitude information.
