Abstract

We present the synthesis of transparent silica, titania and mixed silica–titania xerogels with tunable previous termrefractive indices. The xerogels are prepared via the sol–gel method. These materials exhibit a tunable previous termrefractive index ranging from 1.1 to 2.1, and are transparent from 250 to 2500 nm for silica xerogels and from 400 to 1900 nm for titania xerogels.
