Abstract

This paper describes the results of a first large scale effort using the advanced capabilities of satellite monitoring of the global aerosol distribution by a synergetic retrieval algorithm. A climatological data set over Europe and Africa is presented, which includes optical (optical thickness), chemical 9composition),and pollution relevant (ambient particle concentrations: PM10, PM-soot) information.
