Abstract
Our external calibration experiments with the European ERS-1 and the Japanese JERS-1 cover the determination of the inflight antenna pattern and the absolute calibration using corner reflectors and active radar calibrators. For measurements of the inflight antenna patern we use some 30 high precision calibration receivers, deployed over approximately 200 km across the swath. Trihedral corner reflectors and active radar calibrators are utilized as reference point targets for absolute calibration. Especially for the use with the spaceborne L-Band sensors we recently acquired six trihedrals of 3 m side length.
