Abstract

The time structure of terahertz coherent synchrotron radiation (CSR) has been analyzed with a fast superconducting hot electron bolometer at the electron storage ring BESSY II. The emission from a single bunch was found to be ∼1500 ps. This is much longer than the electron bunch (∼6 ps) and can be attributed to multiple reflections at the walls of the beamline. The transition between stable CSR and bursting CSR has been established from the fill pattern measured from a single revolution in the storage ring.
