The injection and atomization of cryogenic nitrogen at pressures above its critical pressure has been investigated. The jet disintegration process is analyzed by measuring the radial density profiles of N2 at several positions downstream the injector by spontaneous Raman scattering for x/D= 1 to 30. The influence of density gradients on the performance of the Raman technique when applied to turbulent high density flows is discussed. First results of the investigtion of coaxial LN2/GH2-injection are presented. The experiment simulates the injection process of LOX and GH2 in high pressure rocket combustors where oxygen is injected at supercritical pressure.
