Abstract

The arc heated facility LBK with its test legs L2K and L3K is decribed shortly. In more detail the high enthalpy flow inside the existing conical nozzles is discussed. Results of numerical simulations are presented and compared to measured Pitot pressure profiles. Additionally, a new, ellipsoidally shaped nozzle, which is currently designed and will extend the capability of L3K concerning tests at plate-like models, is introduced. The design considerations are discussed and first design calculations are presented
