Abstract
The presentation will describe DLR's mobile PIV system, comprising high power pulsed nd: yag lasers, cross correlation cameras and sophisticated evaluation software. Furthermore, examples of the application of this system in flows such as boundary layer flows, transonic flows, rotor and propeller flows, and wake vortex flows will be presented. Problems arising at the application of PIV to the special aerodynamic problem as well as the unique kind of information as available by means of PIV will be discussed
