Abstract
WIth the X-SAR /SRTM Mission for the first time a high resolution digital elevation model of all landmasses between +60 to -58 degrees will be generated. A concept for the utilization of the DEMs with its most important elements is presented. Furthermore, an overview on the response to the DLR Announcement of Opportunity on data exploitation is given, followed by a brief presentation about potential scientific, operational and commercial applications.
