Abstract

The transition period from frozen forest to the beginning of thawing can be determined. Good Correlations of the NRCS-values with the NDVI. Teh degree of incidence angle dependency is considered to be direclly related to geometrical aspects, i.e. forest density. A Radar Backscatter Index has been developed as a tool for forest density and phytomass estimations.
