Abstract

Since long time it is common to make validation of Ocean Colour algorithms by comparing the amount of water contents, measured by water sample analysis, with data retrieved from optical measurements. This method has been developed for Colour ratio algorithms in the frame of CZCS data interpretation. The MOS-Principle Component Inversion Algorithm (PCIA) is an other type of algorithm and needs an other scheme of validation. It is tried to validate the retrieval of constituents by measuring the full set of radiation parameters in-and above-water and to determine the absorption and scattering coefficient from this parameters.
