The Institute of Flight Guidance is one of the leading establishments in the field of air traffic research. Among other tools air traffic simulations are operated to perform this research. Specially the department of ATM-Simulation is responsible for a number of real-time simulators running the simulation software Narsim. Narsim is capable of generating air traffic in the near surrounding and on the airport as well as in the enroute area. The simulations of German Aerospace Center are strongly focused on generating scientific data which is evaluated in the aftermath of a simulation campaign. For this purpose the Institute of Flight Guidance implemented the Software “Extensible Workflow Management for Simulations” (abbr. EWMS). EWMS is capable of evaluating recorded simulation data via standardised algorithms. To read this recorded simulation data EWMS requires special parsers. These parsers translate the format of the recorded files and write the data into the EWMS internal database. The present document describes the functionality of the Narsim parser being implemented to translate Narsim recorded simulation files to EWMS. The used algorithms and required input data are analysed in detail. Special features and error handling are presented to the reader. By this summary of the Narsim parser evaluation experts should be able to understand and comprehend the data flow inside Narsim parser. Furthermore the validation of the algorithms is presented. Therefore the present document can also be used as prove of correctness for the Narsim parser.
