Abstract
The airborne Wind Lidar system ALADIN Airborne Demonstrator (A2D) was developed in 2005 to validate the spaceborne ALADIN Lidar. It was successfully operated to measure 2D Wind proles onboard the DLR Falcon aircraft, during the last years. The launch of ALADIN within the Aeolus Project of the European Space Agency (ESA) is in 2014. In the same year, it is planed to y A2D on board the research aircraft HALO with a newly developed scanning device. In the framework of this master thesis, scanner concepts for A2D on HALO were derived, that allow to measure 3D wind proles. Dierent technologies are reviewed and validated to nd the best deection principal for the system. This includes the design layout and optical verication of Volume Phase Gratings, mirror systems and wedge prisms, with optical and mechanical specication constraints from both, the Lidar system and the airborne platform. Out of three possible scanner congurations, that were characterised in the laboratory for their relevant optical properties, two were selected for more detailed integration into the opto-mechanical framework of the airborne Lidar system using 3D CAD models.
