This talk reports on ongoing activities under the German Support Programme to investigate and convey the use of high resolution TerraSAR-X SAR for safeguards’ purposes. For the study, an actual nuclear facility with access to in-situ data (Forschungszentrum Jülich) has been selected. Different time series of TerraSAR-X images with different acquisition parameters (Spotlight, Stripmap, Dual-Pol, TanDEM-X) are acquired over this site and also high resolution optical data could be acquired for comparison. Different processing techniques are investigated ranging in complexity from single image interpretation over multi-image change detection to interferometric analysis and even persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI). The co-registered data stack generated in the course of the study reveals the individual advantages of radar and optical images and also the potential in combining both data sets.
