Abstract

This paper presents a unified solution to analyze spherical multilayer structures. The kernel of this work is that the spherical structures with multiple layers are treated as series of two-port connections represented by a hybrid-matrix, from which the equivalent circuit is set up and the dyadic Green's function and/or the system equation are derived. The application of this approach to microstrip antennas is demonstrated, whereby the dyadic Green's function of the microstrip antenna on a dielectric sphere covering a metallic one is analytically verified to literature. Finally, some numerical results of input impedance and radiation pattern of microstrip antennas are shown and verified with commercial software codes.
