Up to now, more than 40000 images have already been acquired and ingested into the radar backscatter map of TerraSAR-X. This X-Band backscatter map is a valuable data base to enhance the performance prediction as well as the commanding optimization for TerraSAR-X and similar missions like TanDEM-X. The emphasis of possible backscatter map applications is put on global ambiguities prediction and optimizations of the setting of the instrument receiver gain.
