The lecture contains an introduction to explain the role and importance of testing within the overall field of space technology. Than the role of testing is described using the example of rocket engine testing. The target and scope of rocket engine testing is explained and the interaction of engine and facility is described. The lecture has a focus on the operational aspects of the rocket engine and the test facility. It starts with a description of a rocket engine (a cryogenic main engine in gg-cycle) and a description of a related test facility including sub-facilities.
