Abstract
Air traffic has been growing over the last decades and its emissions lead to changes in the composition of the atmosphere. It contributes to climate change, e.g., via CO2, contrail-cirrus, ozone, methane. These mechanisms will be presented and special emphasis will be given to current research concerning possibilities to mitigate the climate impact via changes in routing or aircraft design.
