After having built, commissioned and operated Germany’s first solar tower power plant in Jülich the project partners of the Jülich plant have started to refine the proven and tested concept with regard to the anticipated mid to long-term development of the solar and general power market. The main targets for the refinement are simplicity, modularity, dispatchability and flexibility of the concept, making it adaptable to e.g. different feed in laws, customer’s needs as well as geographic and financial boundary conditions. Especially the further development of the non-conventional parts of the power plant is focused on these main targets and the first findings are presented in this paper.
