Abstract

The third Stokes-Parameter contains additional information for rain rate detection. The utilization of the two-dimensional aperture synthesis method foe polarimetric radiometry allows to achieve the required spatial resolution with respect to the rain cell dimensions. A high sensibilty can be achieved by use of a wide-band millimeter waveband receiver. Angular resolutions of interferometers and sensitivity estimations for various antenna configurations are presented.
