Abstract

Numerical methods were developed for simulating composite elements such as half tube segments under axial crush loads to predict failure mode and compute energy absorbed. The methods are applied to some composite test structures defined within a Round-robin exercise on FE code validation led by the CMH-17 Crashworthiness Working Group.
