Abstract

A Temperature-Sensitive Paint (TSP) has been developed to detect laminar-turbulent boundary layer transition line in the transonic wind tunnels. As a conventional TSP, europium thenoyl-trifluoroacetonate (EuTTA), Ruthenium tris(1,10-phenanthroline) (Ru(phen)32+ ) has been used. But they have temperature sensitivity of 1.6 %/°K and 1.44 %/°K. They are not enough sensitive to visualize the laminar/turbulent transition in the transonic wind tunnels. Therefore, a new TSP which has enough high temperature sensitivity was developed by PSP /TSP group of DLR AS-EV. As a result, a new TSP with very high temperature sensitivity of 4 – 5 %/°K and with high intensity was successfully developed.
