Abstract

Future spaceborne radar systems will provide an increased flexibility for the radar operation compared to today's systems such as TerraSAR-X, Radarsat-2, or COSMO Skymed. This enables new strategies for the data acquisition. In this paper it is analyzed which flexibilities in the design of the high resolution wide swath synthetic aperture radar (HRWS-SAR) satellite are useful for the ground moving target indication (GMTI) capability of the system. In order to do so, first the possible flexibilities are introduced and the use of these degrees of freedom for GMTI data acquisition is analyzed.
