In this thesis a novel range ambiguity raw data simulator is presented. The simulator allows generating raw data with an exact known range ambiguity situation. This is very useful in the investigation of the effects of range ambiguities on the image quality in different applications. Also it is an important tool in the investigation of methods for range ambiguity suppression. The simulator was used to investigate range ambiguity suppression obtained by means of up and down chirp coding for pont targets and realistic scenes, including extended targets. The objective is to demonstrate that up/down chirp coding provides great advantages for certain applications.
