Abstract

A comparative analysis of temporal decorrelation effects is presented using different frequency bands. Repeat-pass InSAR data acquired by the E-SAR sensor in X-, C-, and L-band in September 2003 at Oberpfaffenhofen calibration test site are investigated, spanning temporal baselines from 15 minutes to 1 hour. Particular attention is given to the problem of volume decorrelation, which cannot be completely avoided, even if the successive tracks were flown with nominal zero baseline. For comparison, interferometric data acquired in X-band single-pass mode are also presented. The observed temporal decorrelation effects might impact the orbit design of future spaceborne SAR constellations.
