In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of the Cartwheel, the Pendulum, and a combination of both in respect to orbit maintainance. First, the different configurations are illustrated and compared with respect to their variation of the along-track and across-track baselines. We make an elaborate estimation of the consumption of fuel for both station keeping and formation keeping orbit manoeuvres. For this we take into account semi major axis declinement due to atmospheric drag and nodal shifts in the formation. All calculations will be performed for different transmitting master satellites like ENVISAT with ASAR, ALOS with PALSAR, and TerraSAR.
