Abstract

This paper describes the results of a CFD study which was undertaken to investigate chemical time scales of hydrogen combustion in air at a wide range of typical scramjet combustion pressures and temperatures and to test the applicability of the pL scaling law to the HyShot II reference Scramjet combustor. Limits of applicability of this scaling approach were identified and are discussed in this paper.
