Abstract
A planar metamaterial slab with a relative permittivity and permeability of -1 can focus a wave originating from a point source on the one side of the slab into a focal point at the other side and therefore act as a collimating lens. It was shown theoretically that with such a configuration, imaging with a resolution below the diffraction limit can be achieved. In this work the effect of dispersion onto the imaging quality is investigated. Transmission of broadband pulses with a Gaussian spectrum through a Drude model based, impedance matched to free space, composite right/left handed (CRLH) slab is considered. The configuration is studied numerically via the transmission line matrix method.
