FAMOUS: Gate Allocation Program (GAP)

Abstract

This document describes a gate allocation program (GAP) developed for the DLR-internal project FAMOUS. The second chapter gives an overview about the problem of allocating aircraft positions to different types of aircraft depending e.g. on size and transport type (passengers / cargo / GA). Chapter 3 describes how GAP will handle situations where the planned position for an arriving aircraft is already occupied by another aircraft. This includes the selection of positions which are suitable for the affected aircraft, the evaluation of these positions as well as the handling of situations where no free positions can be found. Possibilities for the assessment of an observed situation are described in Chapter 4 and 5 whilst the remaining chapters will give an overview about the necessary input data (chapter 6 and 9) and the presentation of the planning results (chapter7).
