Abstract
The aim of this master's thesis is to assess the feasibility of UMTS for aeronautical communications. Specifically, we wish to determine how existing UMTS networks may be accessed by aircraft with a direct air-to-ground communications link based on the UMTS radio interface technology (Wideband CDMA) and using the same licensed spectrum as on the ground.
