The preliminary design approach discussed in this paper prefers the use of a multi-component STS model based on the system of elastic beams coupled with component based simplified aerodynamics instead of using of more sophisticated FEM/CFD methods. The development of both the simplified pa-rametrical modular model of a STS as an aeroelastic object as well as of the model representing its flight control system will be described. The influence of the main design parameters (e.g. body diame-ter) on the loads, stresses, Eigenfrequencies, principal modes and flight dynamics will be studied in the closed loop analysis ("aeroelastic STS – Control System").
