Abstract

Impact tests can be performed by using a drop weight or a pendulum as is being done within the DLR. In order to simulate the impact tests within the CODAC program it is necessary to know the effective mass and velocity of the impactor head. If a drop weight is being used the effective mass equals the weight’s mass, in case of a pendulum the effective mass has to be calculated.
