Within the DLR Project ForMEx a model deformation measurement was performed in the low speed wind tunnel DNW/ NWB by means of the Image Pattern Correlation Technique (IPCT). IPCT combines photogrammetry with the cross correlation algorithms developed for PIV. The cross correlation requires a random dot pattern which has to be applied onto the model surface. Stereo – IPCT delivers the 3D surface of the model and its 3D deformation with respect to a defined reference position. The DLR - F11-half model has a span of 1.4 m. It is equipped with slats and flaps which were set to its landing configuration, so that the deformation measurement included not only the determination of the bend and twist of the main wing, but also the measurement of the gap variation between the main wing and the slat or the flap.
