Abstract

This article gives a review of the actual developments and objectives leading to a drive train concept which does not depend conventional energy souces. Thereby, approaches of modern combustion engines with low energy consumption, alternative fuels and propulsion concepts like hybrid electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles are presented. Finally, a modular concept to realise flexible adaption to new drive train concepts will be discussed.
