Abstract

Comparisons are presented between numerical simulations of a free- piston driven shock tunnel and experimental data obtain from the new high enthalpy facility in Goettingen, HEG. The models predict with good accuracy the conditions in the driver section of the facility and excellent agreement is obtained for the nozzle reservoir. Agreement between measured Pitot pressures and computed values is only fair.
