SYNOPSIS The unsteady flow field above a NACA 0012 airfoil oscillating in pitch has been investigated at a Reynolds number of Re = 373.000 and a reduced frequency of omega * = 0.3 by means of Particle Image Velocimetry in the subsonic wind tunnel of the ISL. Instantaneous flow fields could be measured under dynamic stall conditions, due to the short measuring time of only a few microseconds as required by the PIV technique. The results show the strong unsteady behaviour of the flow above the airfoil, especially in the downstroke motion.
