Abstract

In order to validate new 2D-algorithms experiments with a car-like shaped 2D model were performed with the aim obtaining experimental data to ascertain experimental turbulent flow field data for comparison with the results of the calculatin. Conventional pressure gauges, Kulite sensors for unsteady pressure data, oil flow patterns, laser light sheet, and liquid crystal techniques were applied for flow quality control and for flow monitoring. A 3D Laser Doppler Anemometer was used for flow field measurements. The Particle Image Velocimetry technique was utilised to yield information on the unsteady flow behaviour behind the model.
