Abstract

Particle flux density measurements in the disturbed flow field of a free-jet were performed by means of a free-molucular pressure probe. The direction of these particle fluxes is measured by probe turning angle profiles along the jet axis. The pressure readingis a function of the probe converter temperature, the transmission probability and the velocity distribution function of incoming molecules. The calculation of this transmission probability as a function of the molecular Mach number, the geometry and the turning angle is presented as an analytical equation. The reduction of experimental data by means of this equation permits to distinguish different particle fluxes to the probe.
