Abstract

Drag, lift, heat transfer and recovery temperature (including the influence of gradients and suspension system) have been determined on a delta wing at 30degree, 45degree and 60degree angles of attack using nitrogen, argon, and helium as test gases in a free jet flow and were compared to DSMC results. Rarefaction parameters based essentially on free stream density, and stagnation temperature e.g. Kn o. f (alpha) were able to correlate normalized coefficients with different ratios of specific heats, Mach numbers, wall to stagnation temperature ratios, and angles of attack.
