Abstract
Ocean surface reflection causes under typical measuring conditions a non-legible contribution to the measured total reflectance of the system atmosphere/ocean. Ocean surface reflectance can be evaluated by using measurements in the O2A-Band around 762 nm. The accuracy is estimated to be of order 10-15 %. This accuracy requires measurement and modelling errors to be less than about 1 %. At the present state of our knowledge the question whether B-Band measurements are useful for improved atmosheric correction can not be finally answered.
