Abstract

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) of planetary surfaces can be produced from spacecraft stereo imagery. We present some DEMs covering: a) the sites of former Soviet Luna landers, b) the polar landing area for a proposed European Space Agency (ESA) lunar mission and c) for the area jsut to the south of the Pathfinder landing site in Ares Vallis, Mars. We explain how our DEMs are generated from stereo imagery, the limitations of the technique, and illustrate some results.
