Multispectral observations in the visible and near-infrared reveal important information about the surface composition of planetary surfaces. The interpretation of spectral data is mainly based on spectroscopic laboratory measurements. Recently, a new approach was developed to assess quantitatively the concentration of the main chemical constituents of the lunar surface. A multivariate statistical analysis of laboratory spectra and chemical data of lunarsamples were used to derive a spectral-chemical model describing the relation between chemical constituents and the spectral reflection behaviour. The model, however, is only valid for multispectral observations of the Moon. The applicability of a similar approach to different and compositionally more complex targets could be shown by investigating samples of a terrestrial intrusive complex in the laboratory. In order to determine the chemical composition of V-type asteroids, a spectral-chemical model for anchondrites was developed. The model for the determination of the main chemical constituents wastested with spectroscopic laboratory powdered eucrite. The results and the analysis of multispectral data of Vesta and V-type Near EarthAsteroids will be presented.
