Abstract
In performance investigations, an error-free transmission channel is assumed. This assumption is not valid for mobile applications due to high bit error rates. Two multiple-access protocols for mobile data services on error-prone transmission channels are studied. TDMA and a class of demand assignment techniques are compared using the same user and channel models. The advantages of DAMA in error-free channels may diminish with increasing error rates.
