Abstract

Radiometric correction of SAR images to convert image pixel values to backscattering coefficients via the SAR radar equation is an important goal in applying a radiometric correction to a given pixel value: the first is that if the elevation angle between the radar and the pixel location is wrong, then the correction for the SAR cross-track antenna pattern will be in error; the second is that if the local incidence angle for that pixel is wrong, the correction for the projection of the pixel area from slant range to ground range coordinates will be in error.
