Abstract

In this work data acquired with NASA/JPL DC-8 SAR are fully calibrated. Signatures and polarimetric features of terrain classes are extracted and explained with respect to frequency and incidence angle dependence. Applications of polarimetric contrast enhancement, separation and classification of object classes are demonstrated and a new approach to assess and optimize feature information is proposed.
