Abstract

Since April 1989 a complete photovoltaic-electrolysis test facility for solar hydrogen production and storage is investigated by DLR. It consists of a 10 kW solar generator, an alkaline prototype electrolyzer, a power conditioning unit between them, and a gas storage system for the produced hydrogen. The research and test plant was built up in the scope of the German-Saudi-arabian project HYSOLAR for investigation of the characteristics of components and the system in real solar operation. The results of experiments with single system components and the evaluation of the total system during some days with sine-wave insolation shape - selected from 180 solar operation days - will be presented.
