Abstract

The concept of a compact one-piece half model balance which is isolated and conditioned to ambient temperature allows stable and accurate measurements without any need for stabilization time. The installation of a half model technique in the KKK gives a much increased Mach-Reynolds Number capability for transport aircraft development testing. Maximum Mach-Reynolds Numbers of typical transport airplane configurations will be Re = 12 x 10E6 at a Mach Number of 0.3.
