Results of qualification tests on samples developed by SEP in the LBK - Phase C2 Hermes Programme

C-SiC-samples with two different protection coatings (TFA2 and TFB2), which have been developed by SEP, have been tested in the arc heated wind tunnel LBK. Test conditions and durations have been defined in such a way, that thermal loads during the reentry phase ofHERMES are simulated. Measured and computed parameters for each test point, which is defined by surface pressure and surface temperature, and erosion rates of samples are listed in tables. Results on three copper detection cycles using SiC-samples are included in this report. Non-conformances, problems and unexpected results are mentioned in the last part "Additional remarks" of the report.
